Jack Wilson, Flix Brewhouse Des Moines Head Brewer

      Lead Brewer Jack Wilson began his journey into craft beer and brewing when he lived in Portland Oregon, one of America’s best craft beer cities, in 2012. Every week Jack hunted down new and exciting beers from local and national breweries. After gaining sufficient knowledge he began his brewing experience the way many do, by homebrewing. Upon moving back to Iowa from Portland, Jack continued homebrewing every weekend with his father. This is where he tested out many ideas for brewing. Brewing everything between sunflower wheat, to a green tea lager, Jack honed his craft. Thirsty for more knowledge and experience and in the middle of another move, Jack decided to take the chance to get into the beer industry by getting a job at a brewery.

Joining Flix in June of 2015 Jack did not start on the brewing side, no, he was just a server. Quickly working his way through the ranks, Jack took every opportunity he could to learn from the then lead brewer Mike Gauthier. By 2016 Jack was full time in the brewing side of Flix, and under the tutelage of Gauthier his knowledge about the process and recipe development thrived.

Taking the helm in February of 2019 Jack wants to push the boundaries of what Flix beer is and can be. With an emphasis on being part of the local beer culture, you can find Jack biking to many of his favorite breweries on the weekend, chatting with many friends and drinking whatever the newest beer may be.

Lucas Greta, Flix Brewhouse Des Moines First Brewer

      Lucas joined the Flix Brewhouse team in March 2019 as an assistant brewer. Prior to that, he worked as a bartender and cellarman for 515 Brewing Company. During the covid shutdown, Lucas ended up working at Gezellig Brewing Company for about a year, where they won Champion Brewery at the San Diego International Beer Festival as well as a handful of other awards. After Flix opened back up, Lucas returned to Des Moines and is once again excited to be working with Jack, who he has known since childhood. When he's not working, Lucas enjoys biking, drinking at other local breweries, and sometimes doing both at the same time.

Josh Miller, Flix Brewhouse National Brewery Operations Manager

      Josh started with Flix Carmel in August of 2015 as an assistant brewer. Josh learned about brewing while in an organic chemistry class at Purdue University. This immediately became a hobby of his and he spent the next few years home brewing and learning about brewing while in school and out of school. Following Purdue, while trying to get a brewing job, he worked for a Food and Chemical manufacturing laboratory. When Flix was hiring a new assistant in the fall of '15, they were looking for a brewer with lab experience, and so Josh got the job! Josh was assistant with Flix Carmel until September of 2017, when he went to open a brewery in the town he and his wife were currently living in. During Covid he then went to work with a brewery equipment engineering firm. When he heard Flix Carmel was reopening and looking for a new head brewer, he jumped at the chance! In his spare time, Josh does some serious gardening, raises Chickens, Ducks, and Turkey, and makes wine and cider.
